This species is a narrow endemic from the vicinity of Cachoeira da Garapa in Andarai, Bahia, Brazil where it lives on nearly vertical rocks growing in cracks and crevices. The environment is moist, near waterfalls, full sun and situated at nearly 4000 feet of altitude. A fairly large growing species with many leaves forming a flattened rosette at anthesis to over 24 inches across.
